Studies Fees

Annual registration fee is $30.00 per student, which covers recital fees, materials, and prizes throughout the year.

Monthly Lesson fee is $185.00 per 1 hour lessons;

$145.00 per 45 minute lessons;

$105.00 per 30 minute lessons.

Tuition

  • Lesson payments during the school year (August – May) are based on a set monthly tuition in the amount of 4 lessons. Tuition will remain fixed from month to month, regardless of the number of lessons on any given month. Lessons falling during holidays and breaks listed in the Studio Calendar below are included in the monthly rate and cannot be credited or refunded. Please refer to the Studio Calendar.
  • Monthly tuition is due at the first lesson of each month. Payments made after the 15th of each month will incur a $10 late fee.

Lesson Regulations

  • Lessons are by appointment only. Time slots are scheduled prior to the start of each school year.
  • It is strongly urged that parents of minor students attend lessons at least once a month. Regular lesson attendance helps with steady improvement and focused study at home. Parental support is an extremely important factor in musical training. Children, whose parents take an active and honest interest in their child’s progress, tend to be more enthusiastic and productive.
  • Lesson time must remain as focused as possible. Siblings or visitors are welcome to attend, provided they remain quiet and cause no distraction.

Conflicts and Make-ups

  • If any conflict arises, the instructor is to be notified as promptly as possible, at least 24 hours in advance. If the 24 hour notice is not provided, there will be no make-up lesson offered. (With an exception for sicknesses)
  • Make-up lessons will be offered on the third weekend of that month, as indicated in the annual calendar. If a make-up lesson is missed, the lesson is forfeited — make-up lessons cannot be made up.
  • Credit for the missed lesson will be given towards the next month’s tuition ONLY when the lesson is cancelled by the instructor.
  • Emergency situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Sicknesses

  • If a student has missed school on the day of the scheduled lesson due to an illness, or has suddenly fallen sick with a fever, the instructor is to be notified immediately and the student is not to attend the lesson. The lessons cancelled due to an illness by the parent will be eligible for a make-up. If the student arrives to the lesson unwell, the instructor reserves the right to cancel the lesson without a make-up.

Practice and Preparations

  • Diligent lesson preparation at home is required for all students. Students are expected to practice a minimum of 5 days a week for the time duration assigned. It may be helpful to divide the practice into two or more blocks of time. Progress at the piano depends on daily practice which should assume the same priority as homework. It takes committed practice on a daily basis during the week to put skills covered at the lesson into motion.
  • Students are to come to the lessons ready to learn. Student’s nails should be trimmed short. Long hair should be pulled back.

Materials

  • A well-tuned and carefully maintained acoustic piano is necessary before the lessons may begin. An electronic or digital instrument may not suffice the continuous studies. (Similarly, as table tennis will not teach you the needed skills to play on a tennis court.)
  • Throughout the year, the instructor may request the student to purchase specific materials and books. Students are expected to bring all necessary music and materials to every lesson.
  • Students must purchase a metronome and a musical dictionary within the first year of their studies.

Studio Recitals/Concerts

  • Studio recitals are held 2 times per year: mandatory recital in the fall and Honors Recital in the spring semesters.
  • Studio recital participation is a privilege and must be attained by consistent work. Students, whose piece(s) is/are not prepared at the performance level two weeks prior to the scheduled event, will be withdrawn from the program.
  • The last lesson before a recital or other performing event is a dress rehearsal. The student will not be allowed to participate in the performance without approved attire.
  • Dress for the recitals is formal concert attire. Suitable attire: sport coat/tie or white shirt/tie – for boys.  Dresses or tea length skirts – for girls.  Absolutely no shorts, jeans, gym shoes. Inappropriately dressed students will not be allowed to perform at the recitals.
  • The day of the recital or competition, performers must be at the facility no later than 10 minutes before the beginning of the recital. Participating students and their families are expected to remain for the duration of the entire recital, thereby providing ample audience and respect for all performers.
  • Studio Classes, offering an additional performing opportunity in front of peers, will be offered at pre-announced Saturday dates in spring semester. Participation will be limited and available by a sign up.

Competitions and Other Performing Opportunities

  • Throughout the year, other performing educational and competitive opportunities may become available for qualified students, who possess the necessary maturity, discipline, and preparation to participate in such events. While participating in competitions is not required, when applicable it is encouraged to develop a student’s growth and sense of achievement. You may inquire for further information.
  • A student participating in a competitive event will be expected to purchase all the necessary original publications for the events.
  • Group Theory classes are a must if the student chooses to participate in any competitive opportunities.

Group Theory Classes

  • Group Theory Classes are available for all students ages elementary through middle school. The classes follow a predetermined monthly schedule September through May. The classes are designed to fit the specific needs of each level and cover an array of conceptual theory topics, ear training, and music history.
  • Group Theory Lesson fee is $75.00 per semester, which includes all the materials. Theory classes enrollment fee is to be paid at the first class of the semester and is non-refundable.

Summer Vacations

  • It is important that students keep the momentum of their musical progress throughout the year. During the summer months, there will be more flexibility in the schedule to accommodate family vacations and other special activities.
  • Tuition fees for the summer months of June and July are only to be paid for the number of lessons that take place.
  • Students who take lessons in the summer are guaranteed a slot in the fall.
